Talked to our friend Phil finally last night, seems he got caught up in the middle of the tornado that went thru Maryland on the 24th.
Phil, Kathy, the dogs and the Vette are OK. His house sat in a grove of huge ancient oaks that all came down in the storm,
some of these trees are over 5 feet in diameter and really tall! The main structure of the house was spared just lots of misc. damage, he got a few photos maybe he can post those when the dust settles. Guess he'll be running the chain saw more than the Vette for a while,
just glad everyones safe, Dave
Bill C and I we're yapping on the horn last night... Sadly... two sisters that we're attending college there passed away due to the tornado. We'd had threats of them here...and it is a spooky sight to see the clouds come from nowhere and turn JET BLACK. Hopefully everyone else down there is alright.
I was out yesterday doing damage assessment 4 my job and FEMA of all the damage that the tornado did, and let me tell U it was a mess. Well over a million in damages.
Dave,John ,JD,and others I have not met personally,Thanks for your concern at a time when Mother Nature has handed me and my family a heavy blow (a F3 Tornado) .
Not only did it cross directly over my house, but also my parents houses ~3 miles South.
I was home when the twister touched down ~5:30pm EST.Sept.24th.
It is 4am and only got 3hrs sleep last night.I'am exhausted after 2 days of cleanup and have only put a small dent in the work ahead. Two of my 7-8 Oaks fell into a heavly used 2 lane road.It closed the road and cut off power to 100's of homes and businesses in the area.:bb
I will try to update all those who are interested.I do have pics and will decide whether or not to post some of them.We all have seen enough destruction in the past 2 weeks to last us a lifetime.
The only thing I'am racing right now are a pair of new Stihl Farm Boss chain saws.
Phil
I went over to Phils house yesterday, I can't begin to describe what it looks like around the house! Half a dozen or more HUGE oaks just twisted off the trunks and thrown everywhere, you can't even see the ground for all the debris. Strange thing is that 2 blocks away theres not even a leaf off a tree! Remember, if the sky turns greenish and they say theres a chance of tornados, head for cover!
Dave
Wheelsup, Sorry to hear about the damage. I just moved here to Columbia and was watching the storm closely. Glad your alright. I have an old Pathfinder my dad sold me for a dollar, it runs great and has lots of room for hauling debris without having to worry about messin up the inside. Your welcome to it if needed. Let me know if you want it for a few days and best of luck.
