Hello All,
New to Forum and Vettes. Dad recently (4 months ago) gave me his [U]very used 1989 vette (so I'm kind of stuck with it - ie: no upgrade in near future for me). Car has 110k miles and transmission is officially trashed.
Looking for suggestions on where to get a good replacement - should be able to handle next years motor upgrade (400 - 500 rwhp).
I would ask around and find a good, reputable local shop to do the rebuild. It's a 700R4, nothing mysterious about it, any good shop can build it back to new or better. In fact, good time to upgrade it if you're planning on engine mods.
Take a look @ RPM Transmissions [forum sponsor]...

We have a auto trans expert here on the forum. Search for PeteK and you will find what you need to know.
I appreciate that.
Sometimes you guys give me undeserved credit.
There are alot of great guys in the trans business. Most within a few dozen miles of home.
Pete, you've provided a tremendous amount of information concerning transmissions on the forum and I believe it's WELL DESERVED. I've contacted you personally for some information. I mention RPM transmissions because there's not alot of info on the C4 forum @ them. There are quite a few C5's using their transmissions in high HP applications. The website doesn't reflect C4 applications, you have to look in the F-body area. BTW, THANK YOU AND PLEASE KEEP THE INFO COMING, I know I appreciate it...

Thanks Pete. We only specialize in 4L60E's and not the 700R4's.
