Where is the general area where the build sheet is located on a 1984 Corvette.

There should be one on the top of the gas tank at the front edge. If you get under the car and look up between the spare tire carrier and the diff cover, you may be able to see it.
They are glued to the tank and the chances are that it will not come off without getting ripped. The paper will be very dry and you may not even be able to read anything on it.
You can always get a copy from the National Corvette Muesum along with a copy of the window sticker:

I believe there is one in the right front frame rail, but I haven't been able to locate it.
My tank sticker on the 85 came off last year using a paint stirrer; about 90% complete with most of it faded, but legible.

It's inside the cradel, behind the frame rail. You Have to drop the cradle to get to it.

When we pulled the dash out of my 1984 we saw on the aluminum support mounting beam that the build date was written on it...my car was dated March something 1983 so it appears I have a a very early C4.

On my '86 it's on the inboard driver side right next to the steering joint. The plastic shield around the steering joint hid the hole from view.
Looks impossible to withdraw without ruining it in the process. I'd rather order a new one and leave this one alone.

Also, there is a tag on the rear of left door, below the belt line, with the build date. Mine was built in June of 1983. My VIN is in the low 11.000's.

The broad-cast sheet is in the left ( sometimes right ) frame rail. My build sheet was on the right side of the tank under the strap---
