Default Good Advice!

wow there is some good advice on here.every now and then a smart *** or two but more or less good smart people.i joined here when i first bought my vette in the spring.i asked a couple of stupid questions and got the answer i deserved.but i took some of the opinions lightly and some to heart and here is what i have come up with. I Love this site and all the different opinions on it!i have learned a great deal by shutting up and reading some.i refer to VADER86's page on a regular basis and have went to every link, there is some good stuff there. i especially like the recipe for a 400 hp L-98.i have used every thing i learned here and decided to tinker with mine some now. tell me what you think it will get and after i complete it, (night and weekend project it might take me awhile and some beer), but i will post chassis dyno results.i decided on a tpi kit i bought on e-bay.slp runners ,ported accell base, ported plenum,52 mm throttle body, 1.6 roller rockers, frisbee removal, air pump removal, cat removal. if i can get 265 to the rear wheels i will be happy . 91 L-98 Thanks to everyone, Terry T

Terry,
I know zero about L-98s, but any SBC will get a good pick up from a ported plenum, larger TB, upgraded rockers, and an improved exhaust system. Take some pics and keep us posted.

Sounds like you're off to a good start. Keep us posted on your progress. You may want to consider a cam while you have the base and rockers off. You'd have to pull the radiator and move the condensor out of the way and of course pull the waterpump off. Is your timing chain due for a replacement?

Some of us smartasses just have a crabby mood because we have no money and our vettes are slow.

You should feel a big improvement by dealing with the induction. A bit more cam is a good suggestion too. The current ZZ4 crate motor at 350Hp is pretty much the L98 with a carb, a bit bigger cam and a tiny bit more compression.

Your mods should hold up the good low end torque of the L98 but probably not match the top end of the ZZ4

This is an excellent site. Without it, I would have sold my 88 Corvette. Good Luck, Tom
