ignition wireing question
My ’93 coupe had an aftermarket burglar alarm installed on it when I bought the car. There is no documentation, but I did find a black box under the dash that I suspect. I’ve had so many problems; I just want to do away with the system. Because it’s wired in such a way that it can affect the starter, horn, and entire electrical system, I have been, and still am hesitant to mess with it. But the latest problem is this: NO FIRE at the plugs!
I need to move it around in the yard. How can I hot wire the coil? And more importantly, can I do it without risking damage to the electrical system?
On older cars I’ve worked on there was a pos. and negative. My LT1 has a 4 connection wire system. 2 in the harness are in a black outer cover, connecting to ½ of the coil, the other 2 are in a grey outer cover, connecting like 2 halves to complete a circle. I guess if all else fails I can build a toggle switch panel to control everything.
Has anyone ever faced such an electrical dilemma? How can I quick wire the electrical system to get her started?
