If you're talking about an 8 grand tach for the star trek dash (84-89) I don't think there is such an animal. The numbers will actually go to 81; which is 8100 RPMs, but the bars obviously won't go that high.
If you're refering to the later dashes (90-96), I put an 8K in a 93 LT1. It takes a few hours, but its just a plug and play operation. Kinda expensive though for a tach. If you need a good tach, buy aftermarket and stick it somewhere. Factory ones aren't acurate enough for my racing taste anyway.

Re: 8K rpm tach? (GRX)
Lingenfelter and DRM sell an 8k tacho conversion for 90-96 vettes. You send them your cluster, they recalibrate it, replace the tach facings with 8k markings and send it back to you so you can re-install it. Cost is about $295.

actuallly, the 89 zr1 prototypes had the 8 grand digi dash. i dont think there were very many made, even less in existence.
Junkyard Warrior and/or Mr. CJ have a 8K dash from a '89 prototype ZR-1. Obviously, it is not for sale, but they posted pics of it several months ago. Very
