Ive noticed that my new motor is blowing a cloud of smoke when I first fire it up... Is this normal? I know the car is running very rich, plus its a pretty straight exhaust.... Thoughts? It never smokes after startup.

Well since I know its running rich it would seem as though that makes the most since right... Plus if it were valve seals wouldnt that occur as you drive the car. The smoke isnt really black its smoke not blue either though.... It doesnt linger alot Could it also have to do with the lack of most the emmisions equipment? I sure hope and have a feeling its cause Im running rich with a broken adj fuel regulator... Other thoughts though are greatly appreciated.

Thats better than valve seals I still would like to think it is that broken regulator, I know Ill find out soon enough, but Id like to be able to sleep at night. Im thinking the pressure could be so off the chart, as the motor shuts down, its still spraying and maybe causing the access.... I have no clue though.

Check engine vacuum and compression. Leaking intake manifold gasket maybe allowing coolant into the intake ports, especially when pressure builds following shut down. Any rust on the plug threads? What do the plugs look like or is too soon to get a good read on them? Is your idle quality okay? Overall performance? Might just be that the motor needs 500 miles or so for the rings to get a good seal. If vacuum, compression and overall performance are good, I'd put a few miles on it and then read the plugs.
I think Im going to just wait around to fix the vacuum leak and go from there. Performance really sucks, but I have a strong feeling I just need to fix the regulator and then put some miles on it. At least I hope thats the case. What kind of risks are involved in running if it WERE leaking valve seals... What about running it rich and with the broken regulator like I am. Its my daily driver, I have no other means of transportation for the most part, so I want to get this thing running straight and soon.......
