I need a cam for my 96 LT4 6SPD. Current mods are bolts on's and a 125 shot. Its time for a cam. I need help on knowing which one to get. Should I get a cam kit? Or piece one together myself?
I like Comp Cams XFI series, which grind depends on future mods. Also, with your LT4 you really don't need a cam kit, just buy a camshaft and stick it in. If the car isn't too high mileage, you can even reuse the lifters.

I am wanting to make around 370 on the motor. Future mods will be Hydro lifters, 58mm TB, probably port the intake mani and maybe the heads. Car has 100k on it.
With 100k on the engine. I would install new lifters, valve springs, and timing set with the camshaft.
THAT is the right way to do it.
Using old lifters may not be such a good idea.
It's my habit to use new lifters with a new cam.
The valve spring pressure on our engines is pretty mild so you could probably get away with using the old ones but why take a chance on it? New set of lifters doesn't cost that much.

Yea I had planned on all of that. I wouldnt feel right without replacing all of the components.
