I installed a new stereo and it is making the SYS light flash now, I know it is lokking for a certain resistance, can I install a resistor in the wiring to trick it and keep it from flashing?
wish I would have known this before I put it all back together. you know how much troublw it is to get the head unit back out
I installed a Kenwood DPX-301 I really like the almost stock look of it. polk audio 6x9's in the stock rear locations and 5 1/4 components in the front with the tweeters mounted on the targa roof holders in the rear compartment, I will go take a few pics.
In my 94, I put in a head unit and have that da* * SYS flashing also. If I understand you right MO ? I need to unhook the dimmer wire and the sys will no longer flash ??? thanks this will make my day if it works
The problem is that the resistance of most aftermarket radio's dimmer circuits is different than the stock head unit. The CCM reads this as a malfunction in the circuit and sets DTC 72 & 74. Here's the TSB for the 90-93s. http://www.corvetteforum.net/c4/dave8476/index4.shtml
My understanding is that the resistors are really more an issue than the dimmers...
My comments above were that this would be the same instamce for the 95 and 96 radios as well. I had to add resistors to the data lines, to keep the sys light from flashing.

So if one were to install potentiometers or varistors inline while installing a new HU could he then dial in the additional resistance needed for both the new HU's dimmer to work and for the CCM to be happy?
