Default Resolved long cranking to start

Today I installed a new set of Lucas injectors in my 88 after years of putting up with long crank when hot. Wish I did this a long time ago, problem solved, car has never run this good before. Got the advice and help from this forum. Thanks to all who responded to my questions. I have only been a member about a month, but boy am I hooked.Alot of good people in this forum.Thanks again. Jim

How much were the injectors, how many #/hr, and how long/involved to install. I think I need new injectors as well. Thnx. :cheers:

Lucas are the injectors GM used for replacing the original Bosch ones if the cuctomer complained enough while under warranty. the previous owner of my car was not a car guy and the dealer blew him off, told him it was normal, so he lived with it and I did for the past eight years also until I couldn't stand it any longer. Anyhow the lucas listed for 97.00 apiece a mechanic buddy of mine got them for 53.00 for me and he installed them in about four hours total he told me.He did the job for a couple hundred,I had him pick up a new gasket set cause we could not find the individual ones we needed so I gave him 300.00 total cost for job was 725.00 which included a oil change and lube. well worth it IMO. I did not want to tackle the puzzle myself. My car has never run better. Hope this helps, Good luck. Jim

You might first check with Rich at Cruzinperformance. He will recondition and flow test them for $80/set with a quick turnaround. He uses ultrasonic cleaning and replaces all accessable components including both O-rings.

To access the injectors you need to remove the plenum, at least loosen the runners, disconnect & plug the fuel lines and remove the fuel rail. The injectors come out of the motor with the fuel rail, they are held into the rail by "C" clips.
