Before spending big time and cash try some fluids. I use Marvel Mystery Oil and Lucas fuel injector cleaner. Put in the recommended amount about every three or four tankfuls. When I first had ticking problems several years ago I put these in every tankful for several months. The noises stopped. Now I use just every 3/4 tankfuls. No Problems for years. BTW my car has 60,000 miles. May not help but it's cheap to try.
HTH
P.S. You can also put the Marvel in the oil sump - 6/8 oz, don't overfill. It will help with dirty valve train stuff.
Also don't put overmuch stuff in the fuel. You may free up too much gunk for the fuel filter to pass easily. Guess how I know this.
ITS FUNNY IM SO SCARED MY ENGINE WILL BLOW APART .. WHEN I RACED THAT STANG THE OTHER DAY AS MY NEEDLE ALMOST HIT RED LINE I CRINGED THINKING MY ENGINE WAS GOING TO BLOW THREW THE TOP OF MY FIBERGLASS HOOD.
Your car has a rev limiter. If you hit it you know, therefore its kind of hard to over rev the motor unless you just keep it pegged on the redline, which would be a really stupid thing to do.

If you hold it at redline, you dont deserve to have the car.

HOLD AT THE RED LINE WHO SAID I DID THAT ? I LOVE MY CAR IM JUST WORRIED THAT ILL MESS SOMETHING UP JUST PLANE OLD DRIVING IT. I STOPED GETTING ON IT SINCE I FEEL LIKE THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG. IN THE LAST FEW DAYS IT SOUND LIKE IT GOT WORSE OR A LITTLE LOUDER.
It could be the lifters and it also be the rocker got loose and will causing noise. I had one of the roller rocker nut got loose and making noise. I pop the valve cover and check, damn one loose nut and caused damaged one alumimun rocker. Put in a new rocker, it good to go.
First time I took my car down the track I got nervous b/c it reved so high. I actually let off during the shift. Now after many many runs I know it is supposed to scream like that.
BTW---Have you found the issue? Don't go screaming down the road like that w/ a loose rocker or something.
I have been a ford tech for many years and when mine did it the second day I owned I said here we go lifter or low oil pressure problem. turns out to be a noisy injector, mine only does it at times, I am going to replace them with Ford/Bosch injectors
