Default ***C4 Steering Rack Question***

Hello:
I am using C4 parts for my 55 Chevy truck http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2330005
Which is the inlet port on the steering rack? Smaller or larger one?

http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...2330005_17.jpg

Thanks for the help.

The inlet port hooks up to the crimped pressure line from the pump. The return from the rack is through a NPT threaded nipple with a 3/8" hose clamped to it. I think the inlet is larger, but they shouldn't even be interchangeable.

Checked my Factory Shop Manual - it shows the port closest to the left wheel to be the pressure port. According to my NAPA book, the return line is 16MM threads. The pressure line has a 16MM and a 18MM end, the book doesn't say which is to the rack. GM usually has the pressure port larger. I would look at my vette to make sure - but there is 2 to 4 feet of snow on the ground and against the garage door!

"it shows the port closest to the left wheel to be the pressure port."

As the man said.
Looking down on the rack from behind pressure port is lower down on the left;return higher of the two on the right.
