Brakes need to have a "break-in" period when you use them lightly and let the parts wear a little until they mate perfectly. During this time, any heavy braking can damage the parts. The brakes will also squeek and grind a little more as the parts wear. You would hear this at slower lighter braking as you are not squeezing hard to make the brake's mate properly from pressure. I have been told about 500 miles of average driving without heavy stops should give the brakes enough use to properly wear. If you don't have the mies on yet and haven't made any heavy stops I wouldn't worry about it. Anyone have any different times on this? I unfortunately am not an expert on this an I'm just passing on what I have heard from brake people.
