Hello everyone, tried to find the details but could not find them. So I thought I would just ask away: thinking of buying a Hurst short throw for my 92 6sp. Looks simple. Have replaced the Tremec and T56 but never ZF tranny. Also, the B&M looks different. Any ideas?
How hard would it be?
Also, wanted to know if you guys had any thoughts on PCMforless chip. had one in my 95 Fbody, Bryan Herter was great, but I was not sure about LT1 Vette.
Thansk in advance,
Greg

The ZF shifter install is a bitch. You have to do significant work under the car, and most people drop the exhaust (which can be a chore in itself). Average install time is 3-4 hours. You can find the complete instructions for the B&M on their website. The install time for the B&M and Hurst are about the same.
Have fun, its not that bad, just time consuming. Here's my thread on the subject. There are plenty more of them just do a search.

I dont remember it being that bad. Only thing I had to run out and get was a big *** drift punch to get that pin out. I have had the hurst in my 95 for approx 5 yrs now and have been happy with it

Better have a few hours to spare.I know this is a bit off topic...I can't engage 3rd (stock shifter). It feels like the the throw doesn't quite make it to the detent. When I let the clutch out, it grinds and bumps out. Do you think if I play around with the shims when I do the B&M install, I can solve my problem?
I have an aftermarket exhaust and was able to leave exhaust on. Also worked off garage floor with car on jackstands which made it harder. Custom made a punch that was long enough to knock pin out. Really not that hard, just takes a bit of time. By the way, as you know, changing one in an F body is easy. But on the Vette you have to work from the top and the bottom. Very much worth the effort. As for chips, the only good thing about them is they will make your car run cooler. Performance is not much if any unless you have an auto which it will then shift better.
