Default Oil Pressure Question

The shop manual says oil pressure should be 50 to 65 Psi at 2,000 RPM>

What's yours?

Mine is about 35 Psi when full operating Temp.

It should be 45-60 at cruise, and about half of that at idle....getting lower as the engine gets hot.

Mine runs about 60psi at hwy cruise.

factory sending units are known to go bad and be inaccurate even when new, before worrying about oil pressure hook up a mechanical gauge and see what it says.

I have never seen anything like that in mine. In what section, chapter, etc, are you finding that?

I think it's in the front of the Engine section under "specifications" in my Haines Manual. I didn't look in my Helms Manual.

Mine is over 60 when cold but about 35 Psi @ 2,000 RPM when warmed. At idles goes to 10-20 sometimes.I ws wondering if I had a bad Oil Pump? The engine has 25K miles on it.

My 87 with 103,000 runs in the same range as Vaders, With only 25K on an engine I would expect higher at idel than what your seeing, but before I dropped the pan I'd hook up a manual guage, quite possibly your sending unit is in need of replacement...btw was your engine build clearanced?

Default About those oil pressure sending units....

First question: why are there two sending units? And which is which?

Anyone know the parts numbers for them?
