I picked up a new door panel for my 94 and it has a hole in it where mine only had an indentation. I am assuming this is a for a courtesy light I dont have? Or something else?
Thanks,
Roy
Mines a vert so there is no hatch! They dont list the panels seperately for vert and coupe in the later models, but they do in the earlier ones. Perhaps I need to put a fake in there!

Your roadster has a switch that opens the panel for the cargo area. In the earlier C4s they had switches on the doors. Maybe the very late ones did away with that switch and just utilized the one in the center console area.

On the driver's side there's a hatch release switch (one inside of the console as well). On the passenger side there's a plastice filler there. That's how my '93 is configured.
My 95 vert has nothing in this place. There is no hole like is pictured, but just a piece of the door panel. That is where the hatch release button goes on coupes.

My 92 has a switch for the convertible deck lid in that spot. It also has one inside the center console. The passanger door has an open spot like yours.
There is supposed to be a plastic filler piece that snaps into that void (mine is there on the passenger side). I just called a favorite vendor of mine who checked a few door panels he has and he confirmed this, but even he had never thought about it before.

This is correct. My '94 ragtop took a direct hit in the driver's door a coupla years ago. This necessitated replacement of the door and everything inside of, or attached to it. The original door panel had no hole for the hatch switch (cuz it's a 'vert), but the only replacement panel that was available had the hole. There is a filler plug made specifically to fill this hole. I can shoot and post a photo of the panel with the hole plugged tonight, if it'll help.
Thanks guys, I just went down to my local chevy dealer and for $16 bought a hatch release switch to plug the hole. I know there is a wire right inside the door panel with a plug on it that matches the plug on the switch. Next time I need to pull the door panel I will hook it up and see if I now have two ways to pop the back lid!

Why??
Hope it works. Otherwise fab a filler. Is the panel from a non vert? I just checked my 95 vert and it's just an "indent".
Sell the panel on EBay and grab up another. I'll be surprised if the release works with the vert. release.
LET US KNOW!!!
Later.
