Hi Folks
My 94 headlights came on very dimly after a week of no use( after a 5 mile run)...the high beam light on dash also stayed on no matter what i did with lights stalk.
After running about 500 yds to look for a U turn to get car home I decided to stop, switch off car and lights , restart and when i turned on lights all was well..any ideas please...could it be headlight relay, but both high and low beams were poor brightness? Battery 1 year old and never had any poor starts or low voltage or any electric gremlimns before.
Help please
Has the problem reappeared since then? If so, are the parking (marker) lights also dim, or only the headlights? When the high beam indicator light was lit, were the high beams actually on?
I'd definately check the battery voltage and connections.
Thanks for reply...the high beam light was on regardless of what headlight position the switch was on..the high and low beams did switch correctly but not at full power..did not look at side marker lights and no repeat of poor power since. Also the hi beam dash light was not at full brightness but other dash lights were not affected. Bat voltage shown was Ok ( where it always is )approx14 volts? Just as a poss answer I had just fitted a new aftermarket radio to the car the previous day and alls well with that with no codes showing up at all.
It happened just the once and have done 80 miles with headlights on since and all ok??

mine did the same thing it was a broken headlight ground ,when the headlights go up and down theirs wires that move with it ,over time they can break ,but when i turned them on and off they made contact again sometimes, when the headlight where dim it showed the high beam marker on the dash .so i found`the broken wire fixed it and its good now .it was the wires that come out of the side of the headlights ,mine was on drivers side

The reason for my earlier questions though is last spring my high beam indicator never would turn off, although only the low beams were on. I had to have the switch replaced. If the side markers had been affected as well, this would kinda rule that out.
