I have a 93 vert that had an intermittent A/C Blower when I bought it. Now it does not blow at all. At the blower the plug has a Purple wire & a Black wire. Are either of these power? I would like to jump the blower to check it out.
Thanks!
I will use a Volt Meter with the key on and the A/C in an operting mode to see if I am getting power.
And also try jumping the Blower straight from the battery.
There you go. Try 12v. directly first to be sure the motor is working...then check it with the existing wiring. That way you won't be getting fooled by a loose connection, weak relay or contact corrosion.
I still don't have one of those...I'm working from a Haynes manual which barely even covers a '93. So far I've found what I need here or elsewhere on the net, but maybe it's time
Assuming it's electronic air, the Blower Module may be bad. You can jumper it to the battery, but simply checking for battery voltage on the purple wire (Controls at 10 or Auto 60) will tell you if it's getting voltage. If it is, check ground (black) and make sure that the connector is in good shape. Otherwise, the Module is mounted on the left side of the Evaporator Case. Tan is the Blower Signal from the Programmer - it should have 2.5 volts at 1; 6 volts at 10. Purple is the output - 4 volts at 1; battery at 10. Black is ground, spliced to the Blower Motor ground and terminating on the frame. Red is fused Battery Power - usually identified as mdl in the Fuse Box, but check your owner's manul.
I have had the same problem in my 90... still not fixed went through all of the diagnostic diagrams for trouble shooting without success. Got a tech 1A tool off ebay & will try this next to see if I can turn it on.
Tested the Purple lead and had 12+ volts. Ran power straight to the blower motor, nothing. I picked up a new blower motor and plugged it in before going through all of the replacement steps and it ran fine. It will be nice to hace A/C back again.
