Default X-pipe vs. H-pipe Performance Results (C-5)

I found this article interesting. It's Magnaflow's article on performance gains on a stock C-5 with H-pipe & stock Mufflers vs. with the same C-5 with X-pipe and high flow mufflers. It also lists the sound level measurements.

http://www.magnaflow.com/05news/magazine/vette.asp

I'm not sure how much carries over to our C-4's, but some must. If any one else has actual C-4 dyno results, please list them.

Enjoy.

Very interesting read. Certainly makes sense.

I would think this relates to C4s also.

I did the same type of mod to my LT4. 3" X-pipe with 3" Magnaflow mufflers. Was fast before. Screams now.

Default Interesting read...

I especially enjoyed the cutaway picture of the factory H-pipe (very similar to the LT4 "H-pipe").

It looks like their own dyno testing only shows about a 2hp and 2 lb/ft of torque gain over mufflers only...

On my 93 I had long tubes, then straight pipes running back to stock mufflers with no cats or pre cats...I had an X-Pipe fabbed up and installed...I've had only 4 passes at the drag strip since and the results have not shown much...I will be going again on Jan. 14th so we'll see what happens then...I did this mod to try and pick up a bit more grunt out of the hole...nothing as of yet...I have not had it dynoe'd to check against previous numbers...I need to wait until the temps get back in the 90's for that...

Can't quantify this, it's just a gut feeling. I think if the factory H-pipe was fully opened, then there would be zero difference between it and the X-pipe.

lallend and rel3rd I agree. You can have a 2hp variance just from doing two different runs. The whole X vs H thing is a crock.

Yes, 2 hp & 2 lb/ft of torque is what it looks like (on the Magnaflow X vs. the stock H).

I am more interested in the results of the x pipe vs straight duals like we have on the LT1 cars. Anyone actually done a before and after?
