Default Temp gauge

Does replacing the temp sender unit correct the 30 degree offset that many of us have on our analog gauge? I hate gauges that read wrong.

Maybe - maybe not. Basic test is to disconnect the harness from the sender. That should peg low. Ground the lead and it should peg high. If either fails, the wiring has too much resistance or the Cluster is bad.

Is this true with the analog gauge in a 95, or just the digital gauge in the earlier dash panels?

On the (84-89) the temp sender is in the right head between 6 and 8 spark plugs. On the 90-91 I believe the analog sender is in the same place and the digital readout is from the CTS in the intake manifold.

The LT1 cars, the analog sender is in the left head between 5 and 7 spark plugs. The digital readout is from the CTS in the water pump.

Do as SunCr suggested to test this.

What do you mean by "the 30 degree offset that many of us have"? The analog gauge isn't linear. The midpoint of the gauge is not the average (180*) of the two end points (100* & 260*). It's closer to the recommended operating temperature; in the case of the LT1 that's around 220* Just want you to make sure before you start spending time and money on a fix that isn't required or won't do any good.
