What are some of the better systems that members have put on their cars? This would be in addition too or in place of the stock system. Thanks

Alarms are in addition to the stock system. Viper, Clifford, Ungo are all good brands. What really matters is how it is installed, not what is used. I used to put them in all the time. Most are put in under the dash with a siren. If you want to be safe, put in an engine kill, flashers for your lights, the siren in an difficult place to go, the brain or control box of the system under the passenger dash. Get a backup battery also. I have heard of theifs taking a cordless drill, drilling a hole in the fender of a corvette iinto the battery, and coming back in a few minutes when the battery is dead to tow away the car or strip it in peace. Proximity sensors are good for convertables but only get the interior kind. The exterior don't say move away from the car, they say key me please. Air horns are good if you need to hear it louder than the stock siren. Most of it is labor. I liked power door locks and if I had an automatic, power start. You can put a power start on a manual which I did but if you don't know how the computer tells the difference, it will disable itself for safety reasons after you drive it a few times. Motion sensors are good but impact are better. The first takes motion to set off. Trucks cause motion. The second takes a sharp rap though it doesn't need to be hard like if you pound on a window with your hand instead of push on the bumper. Trucks don't have hands. Neither does the wind. Most ways involved getting in your car involve impacts not motion. :smash: Figure on spending about 2-500$ for a system depending on the features installed or 1-200$ if you want to try yourself.
Hope this helps
