You figure your static compression ratio by knowing all the specs on your parts...
1. How many cc's your combustion chambers are.
2. How many cc's the dishes in your pistons are.
3. Your piston to deck height.
4. Cylinder diameter.
5. Head gasket thickness and diameter.
6. Go to smokemup.com and plug these values into the compression ratio calculator.
My understanding is that a compression guage is only really good for checking if the engine has "good" compression or "bad."
