Tach filter on 87?

Tach filter on 87?
Does an 87 have a tach filter? If so where is it? I cant find anything in any sort of logical location anywhere near the distributor. I just installed a dash into this car and the tach does not work. The search leads me to believe this would be one of the most common reasons why. If not any other suggestions.

Follow the white wire from the distrubitor TACH. The tach filter will be mounted on the bell housing or the rear right cylinder head. It looks like a small barrel with a metal housing for grounding purposes.

Ok thanks. I tried to follow the white wire and it went down out of sight. It looks like I will have to pull the distributor to get to it. From what I have read it looks like I can simply bypass it to test it and determine if it is the problem. Is this correct?
