The only advice I can give you is to remove the negitive battery terminal first. I replaced the starter in my 93, but I think it is comepletly different than yours?
The trans cooling line will probably be in the way. The book says disconnect them, but I have been able to wiggle them around and get the starter past them in an 86 and an 87. If you have the time and $$ replace it with a mini starter. I got one for a 90 and used it on my 87 for header clearance.
