Before you get flamed to death, do a search on L98 headers.

I have TPIS headers, and I like them. There is one spot they rub on the passenger side.

When I redo the exhaust to a dual set-up, I may go with Melrose or Exotic Muscle.

if you have emissions get the hooker 2151 long tube's uncoated and have a good shop coat them, and also move the o2 bung to the collector. If no emissions then the 2149 uncoated, etc.

Actually we went from 1 3/4 to 1 5/8 for a bit better low end since the L-98 has never been a high revving motor the low end seemed to be a better option. We had the hedman's matched to the heads and coated by swain and they have been great. Hold up good too we have a few cones melted to the bottom of ours!

The advantage of TPIS headers is that all accessories will bolt up in stock from, else you will have to fab up some custom brackets.

I have heard that with these the fuel lines must be moved slightly though.

I have a very old set of Hooker 2151's with the smog provisions welded shut.

They are not pretty or exotic compared to other manufactures, but they have held up really well for me!

I'm interested in hearing your opinion on them. They look like good bang for the buck.

What is the purpose of coating the headers?

coating the headers keeps the "heat" inside the header for better exhaust flow and to keep the underhood temps low. My original hooker coatings lasted about 1 year of driving before they began to flake and corode. A supra friend of mine had a set of headers for his supra coated by a local shop called loko coating and they lasted for about 3 or 4 years of 12 month chicago driving w/o any problems. My headers have been coated inside and out by loko coating and the emission fittings removed along with o2 bungs weleded in the collector.
