Here is a strange question:can a electronic "oil" pressure gauge be used as an electronic "fuel" pressure gauge ?? Thank all of you in advance for your help.

Pressure is pressure. As long as you don't tell the gauge, it'll never know the difference. Of course the sending unit must be compatible with the alternative meduim and the range of the gauge should be appropriate for the job at hand. Go for it!

what you want, is the needle to ride in the middle of the gauge during normal operation, because the gauge is much more accurate in the middle of the gauge range.
when using a oil gauge for fuel, you need to use an isolator to keep fuel out of the people area for obvious fire precautions.
If the gauge comes with a sender, no isolator is needed, but the fuel system integrity needs to be maintained.

Good question I need a fuel pressure gauge and they want 200 bucks for one (interior mount) vs. $50 for an oil pressure gauge.

but that diff could be due to the 50 oil gage being a mechanical direct reading unit vice the 200 is an electronic with remote sending unit. You could use a mechanical press gage for fuel if you have a fluid seperator in the line although these aren't cheap and are a pain in the a$$ to get all the air bubles out of. All things considered I would just go with a electronic sending unit for saftey.

Take a look at www.summitracing.com They have over 100 of them priced from $16.96 and going up to $199.95 Some are mechanical and some are electrical. Take a look.

That is pricing the electric oil gauge vs the electric fuel gauge. The mech fuel gauge is the $50 one but no way in hell am I putting that inside my car.

The simple answer is YES. Preassure is preassure and the guage does not know the difference. If it is an electronic guage with an electronic sender all you need to do is use the correct sender for the guage.

Steve,
You will need to use the fuel psi guage with the electronic convertor. Basically, the systems that are available will connect the convertor to the schraeder valve area on the factory fuel rail. Unfortunately, there is not enough room to put the fairly large convertor onto the fuel rail on a TPI or SR car, so you will need an adapter that connects a -3AN line between the fuel rail and the convertor. Then you can bring the electrical signal from the convertor into the inside of the car for the guage. Typically, there is a module that powers the guage and the convertor.

My module is mounted behind the breadbox in my '87, with the FP guage on the driver's A-pillar.

Regarding the mechanical guages mentioned, avoid the cheap ones, don't use them for permanent mounting. Accel is one example.

They use brass gears and will strip out from fuel pressure pulsations. I went through two of them in two years.

For a mechanical guage, use either a glycerin filled guage, or a guage isolator.
