My new ZZ4 short block is gonna be limited by the stock intake quite a bit. I've heard of the super and mini rams but was wondering if there is anything else. How much would porting the stock base, runners, and plenum myself limit the hp? How much would they limit stock?
If anyone has one for sale email me  I want something for my winter project :jester Thanks!
Re: Other options besides Super and Mini rams? (Vic'89)
Lingenfelter and others are making fuel injectioon systems using a carb type intake with the injectors mounted in the runners, with a throttle body to flow the air. These are probably the best of both worlds with the effenciency of electronic fuel injection with performance equal to high performance carb/intake systems. Check Lingenfelters web site, and others. Do a web search for electronic fuel injection. These systems will allow better performance than a tpi or a mini ram type set up IMO http://www.diy-efi.org/ http://home.swbell.net/nitro57/EFI.HTM (list of fuel injection sites) http://www.blowerdriveservice.com/fuelinjection.htm http://www.kinsler.com/m_efi.htmhttp://www.momarefi.com/images/momar017-3.jpg (weber throttle body electronic fuel injection, one of my favorites)

Re: Other options besides Super and Mini rams? (vettes rule)
what are you trying to acheive, whats the cam spec. whats the comp. is the car a stick or auto, whats the gear ratio all of these things need to be considered in order to make the right choice.
Re: Other options besides Super and Mini rams? (8388)
The car is an auto with the stock 2.59 gears but I want to move to 3.45 Dana 44 or so soon. The compression ratio is around 10.5-11:1 (i think), and the cam im not sure of except that its bigger than stock(trying to find specs). This is my daily driver so it has to be streetable but I want lots of low end and good power on top too, hopefully low 12's, high 11's in 1/4.
Re: Other options besides Super and Mini rams? (vettes rule)
The higher numerically the gear ratio, the more upper rpm your gonna want, think of the mini ram as an LT-1 or 4 it sacrifices alittle torque at lower rpm for higher rpm h.p. for a daily driver more torque is the way to go, I've had very good luck with the cast aluminum runners and factory intake having them extrude honed and making big block torque numbers, see if you can find an old TPIS hints book it does a vey good job of explaining how the different lenght runners perform and has examples on the dyno.

Re: Other options besides Super and Mini rams? (vettes rule)
I have Super Ram for sale if you decide to go that way.
It's all there, with 24# injectors, 58mmTB, fuel rail, fuel pressure regulator, planum, base and runners (also brand new set of gaskets). I was going to do it and purchased it, but than changed my mind and went with carburetor.
