Default ECM Constants "Initial Spark Advance"

Is this your base timing reference value? Lets say my base timing is 6 deg.(1226870ecm) but I change the "Initial Spark Advance" to 8 deg. Would this be the same as changing all spark related tables 2deg. advance?

If you change the initial spark advance in the bin to read 8*, but have your base timing actually set to 6*, this would retard ALL timing by two degrees. The ECM "thinks" it is set at 8* and will add whatever it needs, depending on load vs rpm. So, if you're at WOT and the table says to be at 38 degrees total, the ECM will add 30 degrees (but since it is actually set at 6*, total timing in this example would only be 36*). If base timing in the bin was correctly set to 6*, the ECM would add 32 degrees.

Short answer - yes - by changing the initial spark advance, you can globally affect ALL timing cells across load/rpm.
