Default performance air intake?

i am trying to figure out the best air intake system to put on my 89 vette. i just had the motor completely rebuilt with competition cam, piston, rods, etc. The engine rebuild was the first Mod I've done to the car. Everything else is still stock. The engine is bored over 40 thousandths. The engine is suppose to be able to handle 500hp easily. Eventually I will supercharge it but right now, I can't afford that big of a purchase. So...give me some ideas. Intake? Throttle body? Chip? Dyno tuning (where)? All ideas are welcomed. I don't know what kind of horsepower or readings I am getting now since I am in Iraq now and my father is overseeing all the work and testing the car. Should i have him take it and get a reading on the rebuilt motor before i start making mods? Help!

hi mike,
as far as after market air filter kits i have and reccomend the a/o enginering forced air filter kit thru front number plate cover with the scoop/defuser,ducting ,lid/base along with k&n flter inside it!
looks great, sounds great, works well getin all that nice cool air in!
bit expensive though but what the heck, you only live once mate!
you can buy the kit from corvette central, ecklers, mid america, zip!
any way all the best in what you decide and stay safe mate there in that terrible sh*it country - iraq!
we all appreciate what you guys are doing and going thru fighting for democrisy against those f*ck *** terroists!
stay safe,god bless you!

Default air intake

do you have an aftermarket MAF sensor or the stock? Do you have a chip?

If you have done all that to your car, you must have a chip made for it.

Do not worry about aftermarket MAF's or any other gimmick junk you see in the corvette catalogs.

If you want an air intake, I recommend buying TPiS'. However, do not expect huge increases compared to a stock intake with a cut lid and K&N filter.

Out of curiousity. What motor package did you go with?

thanks vader. I will definitely look into that. As far as an engine package 88, it basically near stock. here are the specs:

Size of injectors factory
Degree of thermostat 180
Specs on the cam 206 on the intake 212 on exhaust (Competition cam)
Lift numbers 480 intake 488 exhaust
Lobe separtion. 112 lobe
Rocker 1.5 ratio
rods (Fir eagle)
Pistons (speed pro)
cylinders bored over 40 thousandths

EPROM Chip..the chip is programmed for more airflow, all the aftermarket parts, and the fuel regulator (45psi).

I am working on the air intake system, and fuel system (fuel pressure regulator). I think I'm going to add an airfoil to the throttle body inlet too.

vader, are you familiar with Corr Performance in Port Allen. If so, do they do good work when they do their dyno testing. Whenever I am done with my Mods, I am thinking bout bringing it over to them. they are the only dyno testers in the region that i know of.....?

I have the TPIS on my 88. I think it's a good deal.

I use the stock intake with a KN filter. You can open up the opening a little where it meets the MAF. The TPIS also looks like a good intake.

I also want to say thanks for your service. I know it has to be hard over there and I appreciate everyone making the sacrifice.
