Default PST Front Suspension Kit??

I’ve got the front suspension off my ’91 vert. I’m wondering if anyone has ever used the PST front end re-build kit (upper/lower ball joints, tie rod ends and poly bushings)?

I’m curious about fitment and quality especially in the area of the ball joints (lower in particular especially in the area of fitment).

I have used PSTs poly bushings in the past (rear suspension rebuild last winter) so I don’t have any concerns in the area of the bushings.

I’m really wondering about the ball joints and tie rod ends. The price is $279 shipped from PST so it warrants at least asking the question before I spend almost twice that much on Moog and poly bushings.

Here’s the link in case you want to check it out.

Thanks in advance.

I'm going with Moog on mine because I heard some trash talk about the chinese ball joints that come in the kits. I got a killer deal from a forum member ($150 total for 4 ball joints and 2 tie rod ends, all Moog) and I bought a poly kit from VBP (forum vendor). That $279 kit sounds really cheap, I'd be worried about the old "you get what you pay for" saying.

Good Luck.

I know you're right about the quality and I'm sure it's in my best interest to stay away from this deal.

You really did get a killer deal on the Moog joints and ties. Was that a one time only thing or does your fourm source have more to sell?

One time deal, he was selling a rolling chassis and a bunch of new parts that he never used on the project vehicle. I think I got about $1150 in new parts (rockauto.com prices) from him for $300. Considering the price difference of about $220 I'd go with the good parts. However, if you do a search you'll find that some people are happy with the quality of parts that come in the Ecklers type kits.

Yep... you certainly got a great deal.

Thanks for the advice.

I used the PST kit in the front end of my '89 last spring no issues here but I only have 2500 miles on them.

I got the ecklers kit for my 89 vert, upper/lower ball joints and tie rod ends, about 135.00, also sprung for the inner tie rods, 20 something dollars each, but went with the energy suspension bushing kit (red). No mileage yet as I have more work and cleaning to do before install but the parts are all together.

Me too, no problems yet, around 2k on them, but I don't expect Chinese made stuff to last as well as Moog. And they're not very difficult to replace.
