Default Wet Carpet

Hey guys the carpet on my 84 is getting wet on both sides near the firewall?? I replaced the heater core a few months ago, so I doubt (hope) this is not the problem. I think I would rather sell the car than go through that again. Any Ideas? Are there any seals along the floor boards or firewall?

Thanks Mark

mine had the same problem... heres what i did to fix it.

if you look very close at where your window's meet up with the a-pilar im willing to bet that its not touching. mine wernt and it was causing water to get in the grove and slide down the door, ending up near the firewall on both sides.

there are 2 way's to fix this.

1. new weatherstrip around the windshield... do not get a cheap one. go for the GM one. i got a cheap one the first time and it didnt work..

2. realign your windows to fit tighter. i got a shop to do that for me becasue step one still didnt fix it. its all better now

One time i had my passenger floor board holding a pond of water, what my cause was that the cowl where the air comes in for the a/c near the wind shield wipers, had two drains on each end, it is about 4-6 inches of rubber that are the drains, they were clogged with debri and causing the water to come in the a/c door....it fixed my problem, hope it helps...

My money's on this being the root cause of your problem, too!

I sprayed water around the windows with my garden hose and sure enough. A stream of water developed on the wrong side of door. Looks like I'll be buying some weather stripping. Where do I get the GM weather stripping? The dealer, ecklers, mid-america, or willcox. I'll check with willcox they're local for me.

Thanks again

I'm glad he found the problem but, this is some good info for me to keep in mind for future reference.

Our weatherstrip kit is made by Corvette Rubber! Plus if you go to the web site link, http://willcoxcorvette.com/product_i...ducts_id=24162 You will find instructions on how to adjust the door glass to stop the water from coming in the car. You can email us direct for a pdf copy of this too!
