Default One to Four lockout

I'm trying to figure out how to disable the one to four shift lockout. Where is this connection that I'm supposed to disconnect?
Do I need the plug that is for sale in the catalogs, or is there a way to make my own?
If you did by the plug, what does it do? :confused:

The plug is on the drivers side of the tranny under the car. It's a flat connector. All you need to do is unhook it and tape up the ends so nothng gets in the open connectors.

on my 89 6spd I diconnected the relay under the hood behind the front wheel in front of the battery there are two there but I dont have access to my car so I cannot give you the lowdown on which one to disconnect and you dont have to spend a dime on this nor go underneath...........

I've heard that the computer may give an error code after doing this, is that true?

RichS got it right. You do not need to buy the plug from the catalog if you can tape the ends of the connector after you disconnect them. The only purpose of the catalog plug is to keep the old connector clean in case you want to plug it in later. The one to four shift light on the dash fill still come on but the one to four shift gate will not operate i the trans once the connection on the side of the trans is disconnected.
