If you insist on it though, make it a single 1/16" hole.
Just me personally, I wouldn't take any tuning or performance advice from a guy who threw his MAF sensor in the garbage. I did some modifications and the car felt slower SOTP on every run, but my timeslips were over a tenth faster on average. I learned then that SOTP observations are complete b.s.
Its true you can run more spark advance and make more power if your engine stays cool, though you will run richer and have slightly worse gas mileage.Tuning is a lot simpler than most think. Its not rocket science. Sure you can run without a MAF, but then then if the TPS goes, the car won't run one bit.
I have driven to TN and back with no MAF, as well as no problems at all. I'm not gonna get into the details about my ways, but they certainly work for me, as well as for 2 other members in this forum with persistent MAF problems. Good luck on what you do.
People who think you lose timing when you run without a MAF have no clue what they are talking about.
