I'm about to replace the EGR valve on my 1988 C4. It is totally stock except for a Flowmaster cat back. While I have the plenum and other stuff off would it be worthwile performance wise to go ahead and upgrade the intake system?
How about the TPIS Miniram or the manifold and large tube runners?
If you'd like more power, yes upgrade the intake. Does the miniram have EGR? I can't remember, you may not need the new EGR valve if you use the miniram. With the stock cam, you may see more gain from a superram intake rather then the geared more toward higher RPM miniram.
not sure if it will work with the mini-ram, but my lt1 intake uses a mid-80's v-6 camaroe free-standing egr with a long copper (painted black for heat radiation and esthetics) tube to dump into the exist hole under the throttlbod...comes off ez for shows and pics
I don't use it with my TPI. Some like it, some don't. It makes a mess in the intake and makes the car a little more difficult to work on but can lower combustion temp. at cruise, resulting in slightly higher gas mileage. Later year 'vettes did not have an EGR valve, EGR was accomplished with overlap in the cam.
I'm thinking about installing a SLP Cold Air Induction System advertised in Mid America. Does anyone have any experience with this setup, is it worth buying? Thanks.

It won't gain all that much. You can run a search on it, there has been many posts on that part.
Especially if you start getting into modifying the manifold. Port and polish, etc. The EGR will just gunk up the work and mess up airflow.
The TPI is great for low end torque, so depending on ewhat you want out of it. You could go MiniRam or LT1 intake conversion, or high flow runners and some port/polishing of the plenum and a high flow base.
