Default lights gone crazy

i have an 88 and after i instaled a new sterio i noticed that my lights(tail ,parking,fog)now work on the dimmer switch i can dim them now all so the tail,fog and parking lights stay on all the time when the car is on i dont know what happend did i install the car sterio wrong i bought a wire hares for the car to do it corectly the only thing i can think of is that the dimmer wire that went to the original sterio i didnt know where to hook it up too so i hooked it up to accorie power is that wrong all so i noticed if i put the ignition key into accseorie mode the dimmer switch starts to smoke help please if anyone knows what i did wrong :flag

Unhook the wire, I think you find that things return to normal.
Don't hook it up to anything.

thanx for your reply but the only thing about un hooking the wire is that when it is not hooked up to anything my dash light dont work when i turn on the head lights :confused:

Disconnect the wire and check your dash light fuse.

Check all your fuses. I discovered that a fuse blowing in a seemingly unrelated circuit can cause bad grounds and such in other circuits. The electrical system in a C4 is really convoluted!

For example, my interior lights were acting all nuts, there was a buzzing relay coming from the glovebox area, all of which was due to the LCD panel fuse being blown. Oddly enough, the LCD panel was working :confused: but was displaying a "SYS" message. When I pulled that error code out it pointed to the correct circuit of the fuse I replaced though.
