Default 93/94 rim sizes the same?

Are the 1993 and 1994 rims the same size? I believe they should be 17X8.5 fronts and 17X9.5 rears for both years. Is this correct? I am considering buying a set of 93's for my 94. Thanks.

It depends upon the car.

For model years 93 & 94
Standard FE1 & FX3(sans ZO7) = 17x8.5x56 front 17x9.5x56 rear
ZO7 = 17x9.5x56 front and rear
ZR1 = 17x9.5x56 front 17x11x36 rear

You are correct unless either car has the adjustable suspension system, then they will have 17x9.5 in the front as well. The plus is those will fit your car as well.

I would suggest buying/trading for four 9.5 inch rims, instead of two 8.5" and two 9.5" rims. More tire on the road and tire rotation is easy.

I believe the 8.5" fronts are used for better handling in turns on the '94.

The 8.5's are offered to provide understeer when traction is lost because understeer is easier to recover from than oversteer for most people. The 8.5's are less prone to rut following than 9.5's. Saying the 8.5's provide "better handling in turns" is subjective. The 9.5's provide more grip. The 8.5's provide recovery from traction loss that may be more familiar. The model year 1994 is nothing special in regards to 8.5 vs 9.5. With 9.5's all around one can rotate wheels front to back. With 8.5 fronts there is no rotation.
