1984 dash board problem

1984 dash board problem
My dad just purchased an 84. The dash seemed to work ok, but when he was driving it the other day, the entire dash went dark except both turn signal indicators lit up as did the high beam indicator light. They were on for a few seconds and then everything went back to normal. he cannot duplicate this problem, any ideas?

Welcome to the forum, and to ownership of the '84! The condition you describe is not uncommon with the 84-89 dash (more so with the earlier years).
There is an excellent resource to help you repair this condition yourself. You will save hundreds of dollars doing the repair yourself, and you will get the satisfaction of knowing you accomplished the task.
