Need to replace the MAF on my 1989 Vette. I found one for a reasonable price, but it only has the screen on the air inlet side. Guy says that thats they way it came from Corvette Central when he purchased it. Is this correct
I did the screen removal modd on mine,... wasn't all that please with the results. Want to make sure this one is an OEM fit!
never seen a stock one with only 1 screen, but i've never seen them all.... i just have the front (air side) screen, back to TB removed with no problems.
If its a Micro-Tech MAF, expect to have some calibration issues. They tend to overestimate flow at moderate to heavy throttle.
The Micro-Tech MAFs only have 1 screen and a circuit board with a foil instead of a hot wire for sensing flow. They are sold under several brand names.
I have one in my car, but I have also recalibrated my chip to make it behave like my OEM Bosch MAF. Fortunately I had plenty of scan data from my old MAF available so I could recalibrate the Micro-Tech to be a reasonable match.
It might be all in my head but I am pretty sure I feel a little bog down low when I punch it. I know how critical MAF sensors are but with all the buzz on the forums I figured I would give it a try. Should have used better judgement. I really don't want ANY calibration issues so I will look for a used one off of a 89.
