Default No start cold 1989

I posted this problem back in November. Saw a few replies but can't find them now...so here it is again. My 89 will not start when the temp gets below aprox. 45 degrees. Not a hint of a start, just like the gas was turned off. I can shoot starting fluid down the throttle body and it will start and continue to restart as long as it doesn't cold soak. Replaced the cooling sensor but didn't help.

I've read several listings here and you guys talk in xyz, abc. Please don't use abreviations with me (I'll put up with talk down on the ones I know) and tell me where these items are located. I purchased a 1989 repair manual and it talks the same way...as if everyone knows where the kaonic relay is located and how to check it!

You apparently have a fuel problem. Do you own a fuel pressure guage?

You will need to check for fuel pressure and see if there is any. If no pressure with the key on, try and crank and see if there is any pressure.

What cooling sensor did you replace (location)?

What do you mean by "kaonic relay"? Never heard of it.

If it runs warm, I doubt fuel pressure has anything to do with it. I'd guess that the ECM thinks it's warmed up and isn't delivering enough fuel. Is there a fast idle when you get it started with the Starter Fluid? Is the Main Fan running? Easiest to diagnose with a Scanner. That will show you what the ECM thinks the Outside Air and Coolant Temperature is. Both are used to calculate fuel delivery. On a cold, non started engine, those temperatures should be about the same and close to the outside air temp. If not, the problem is with the sensors that are used to convey this information, their wiring, or the ECM. Since you've all ready replaced the Coolant Temp Sensor, that leaves it's wiring, the ECM or the Air Temp Sensor. A scan will show you.

.....otherwise, you will be just throwing parts (and $$$) at the problem with the hope you solve the problem before the $$$ run out!
