Are 30# Accel fuel injectors to big for the following setup on my>>>
As many know, I am in the middle of a head port/polish/mill .030", gasket match intake, and LT4 350 Hot Cam Kit install on my 93 6speed convertible.
While I am at it, I am considering putting in bigger fuel injectors. I am also planning on getting a custom Ed Wright chip set with a rev limiter at 6300 rpm.
What size injectors would you recommend? I see Accel has 30# ones for about $249 . Will my stock fuel pump be adequete? Will I notice any improvement with the bigger injectors, or should I stay stock(remember I am getting a Ed Wright chip).
Also, does bigger fuel injectors hurt your fuel economy in general?
Any responses will be appreciated. I plan to keep the site informed of the outcome of my modifications as well.

accell had this on their web site (pdf file) on how to calculate the right injector size : lb/hr(fuel)=(max HP x BSFC)/(number of injectors
where BSFC=0.45 for normally aspirated engines and 0.55 for turbo or SC engines
hope this helps :seeya

Your stock ones should be OK. Better would be the SVO 24# injectors. At GM pressures, they are more like 26.x# injectors. Those should hold you just fine until around 410 RWHP.
Let me know if I can help.
Thanks,

I'm running SVO 24s on my 383 and they seem just right. I wouldn't go any larger. You don't need that much fuel with your displacement and at lower rpm, the pulse length will be extremely short and hard to precisely meter.

I agree with 2FST4U for you setup. If you see yourself going to a larger motor in the future and your injectors are original, this might be a good time to go to larger ones since the ecm is getting reprogrammed. 30# injectors will work fine on your engine after the ECM is reprogrammed.
I'd be a little cautious going to 6300 rpm with a stock LT1 bottom end. The rods are not as strong as LT4 rods and the crankshaft is not the same as an LT4 crank. GM engineers changed those parts and the piston ring type when they went to the LT4 engine because of the higher rpm capability. Some guys say they can go to high 6s but a lot of guys spin rods bearings too.

I have my rev limiter set to 6750 and I hit it and go up to it all the time and have been doing this for 2 and a half years now. No knocking on wood needed. I really think that for drag racing purposes, that RPM is fine. The road racers are the ones that typically are spinning rod bearings. This is typically a sign an oiling problem, like the pan getting sucked dry.
PS, My car has almost 90K on it and is daily driven.
Spin at your own risk though.

95,000 on my stock bottom end LT1 and it shifts at 6500. On the dyno I still made power to 7,200 but my trans won't keep up. 7,200 scares me too.
