Re: Which 52mm TB to buy??? (FoolCrzy)
That is a stock ported one. I really like their billet ones in the 54 and 58mm sizes. You really do not have to worry about going to big with a fuel injected car. Velocity is not build through the TB.
Let me know if I can help. I am an authorized dealer for AS&M. You can see the 54 and 58 MM throttle bodies in our Corvette Forum mall. They are currently on sale.
Thanks,

Those look great, just a little too much $$$ I'm trying to keep costs down a bit... if I go with a 52mm, should I get that patudieM stock ported one, or another type???

It censored A-S-&-M to patudieM!!!!

Re: Which 52mm TB to buy??? (FoolCrzy)
Becareful buying too cheap a one. I Bought a BBK/Edelbrock 52mm on ebay. It works, but, I had to clean it, then found that the butterfly mechanism didn't match my corvettes. Then spent alot of money on Lokar cables to make it work. The cables are beautiful and strong though.

I think the stocker is fine, but if you go to a bigger one, please give us some before and after data - I've never seen any. Anyway, you can bore out the stock TB and use a $10 Holley butterfly kit to make a 52mm without the aftermarket IAC problems.

Re: Which 52mm TB to buy??? (lcvette)
I liek the stock ported ones. I had one from Doug Rippie and it was a first class piece. Now I have a 58mm from ASM that I bought from Chris and Speed Demon and it also is a very nice piece.

Re: Which 52mm TB to buy??? (FoolCrzy)
That's what I would do. At least you know it will work properly, and I don't see why an aftermarket one would perform any differently. I wasted a lot of $$$ on an aftermarket TB that caused me lots of grief.

I would not consider anything else. The stock unit is a quality piece.

Re: Which 52mm TB to buy??? (LT-IV)
The stock TB is fine..anything larger is a waste of money IMO,unless you have more CUBES to feed.

You CAN go too big on a efi car...saying you cant is false. This holds true for stock cars with stock programming.Modified cars and chips may make it doable though.
Id like to see a dyno test as well, before and after listing the mods done from stock to what someone has now to see if it helps.
Just keep this in mind...what good is all that extra airflow from the TB if the inside of the engine's airflow V.E isnt changed?
A larger TB isnt going to alter that unless your mods is maxing it out and the TB you have now cant flow enough air.
Im just a skeptic...if you go with it, let us know the results.

Re: Which 52mm TB to buy??? (89vette)
The stock piece is garbage! My original started to bind, then I went and bought a brand new factory replacement, and 5k miles later, same problem. The butterfly assembly is binding in it's motion in the TB. Second one, and last. I am learning as I go though- if it breaks, I run far far away from 'genuine' GM factory parts now, and buy reputable aftermarket parts instead.

If you are going to kick down 300 bucks, get something good like the AS and M.

PLEASE tell me where I can get this kit from. I will buy one & punch out my extra TB & install it. Then I'll get us some dyno runs both ways.

That's your opinion. Genuine GM is the best in my opinion. I never have problems with stock pieces.

Re: Which 52mm TB to buy??? (FoolCrzy)
I too did not like the stock unit. My BBK 52MM has performed flawlessly since purchase nearly 2 years ago. You CAN go "too" big on a stock motor! Maybe someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I think with your setup you can go with the 58MM without any worries.

Re: Which 52mm TB to buy??? (FoolCrzy)
I'm running a TPIS 58 and our GS is using a AS&M 54. Both are made out of billet but are expensive. I put a Holley 52 on our 93 yesterday and it is a real nice piece. It's made out of billet like the more expensive ones, it has the air foil cut into the body of it, it's semi polished and comes with a top plate with the word Holley engraved. It is a very impressive piece for the money. Even the cable hookup is made out of a piece of billet. The only difference I can see with it for the most part between it and the TPIS OR AS&M piece is that you will need to use your IAC plate and bolt it to the new throttle body. The TPIS and AS&M IAC provisions are cut into the throttle body and they no longer have a coolant passage in them. It is still a far superior piece compared to the BBK and the stock piece. It was only about $350.00. You can get one from a company called Jeggs or Summit. Stay away from the BBK. It is a POS. Poor craftsmenship and poor quality.
