DMF's & Clutches....
I considered a Centerforce DF clutch originally but shop couldnt get it in time(F'in UPS) and they needed the lift, but when i pull the motor soon i want a new clutch and Fw.
What other reliable SMF conversions are there for a 450RWHP car that bite, arent too undriveable and are around $1000-1200 for the FW&Clutch
Mcleod Twin disk???
Centerforce DF with steel SMF???
others?

im about to replace my clutch as well and this subject is like the chicken and the egg or who is on first base. this is my first clutch in the corvette so im trying to pay attention and learn what kind of difference a smf does as ive read about imbalance issues as a result of not balancing the crank to the flywheel simultaneously. ive seen a guy run in the 7's 1/8th mile at our local racetrack and he's running a smf with acenterforce setup and he swears by it. please report youre choice and a followupon the performance and cost as i will do the same

The longest any delivery takes is 5 days depending on the service level and considering no acts of God to cause a delay. And if an act of God caused a delay, it would delay it no matter who the shipper was.
If the shop was too cheap to pay for a quicker delivery, why blame UPS? Was the supplier out of stock? Why blame UPS?
Was it lost or stolen while in UPS' hands? If so, then you can blame UPS.
I'd really like to know the reason it was the fault of UPS.

It might of been the shop but i doubt they lied to us. So what... ups makes one package late, i dont care and dont knock you guys, how many millions of pacakges worldwide daily are ontime.... Almost every one.
The only other problem ive seen with UPS is out of texas some custom LS1 Heads were sent to my friend here in atl, and the box was cut open, one of the heads stolen and taped back. and we know the guy personally who shipped them to us, so that i fault on a bad employee of yours
Other than that ive been satisfied and will still use UPS on a weekly or daily basis. and my friend whose head was stoled manages a shop and still prefers to use ups so you must admit that not everyone is perfect.

A shop in Southern California built the clutch disk for me, they were called 'Grip 9 Motorsports' but they have since gone out of business. I would think any specialty shop could build you a disk though.
In the 91 I have now, I've installed a McLeod twin with an aluminum flywheel. It's not nearly as unbearable as most on here would have you believe, I drive the car a lot and haven't ever had a problem. My girlfriend can drive it without problems, so the clutch can't be all that bad. The reason I went McLeod on this car, was that I wanted a clutch that would take all the abuse I could throw at it, and take it forever. All the other high HP clutches seem to be very grabby or chattery, allmost like a switch, either on or off with little to no slip. The McLeod has a nice 3-4 inches of pedal travel where it slips, so it's easy to drive around town. It engages really smooth too, as long as you are easy on the clutch pedal. However, if you drop this clutch, it bites like nothing I've ever felt. It is amazing how violently it engages if you slide your left foot off it.
Good luck, let us know what you decide to do.

The part about the stolen head, I can totally believe that one, but why steal one head, doesn't make sense.
I've seen boxes busted open and one head laying around with no idea who sent it or where it was going.
As far as the late delivery, I'm willing to bet they shipped it out late. The only way to prove or disprove that is to track it(if the shop still has the box) and find out when it was shipped. I can't tell you how many times I delivered a box that was "late", and I wrote the tracking number down only to find it was shipped the day before.
Shippers love to blame us for them not shipping on time.
Now if there was heavy snow, a flood, hurricane, tornado or any other act of God, that would cause a delay and that is no fault of ours since the government doesn't consider us essential, when a state of emergency is called, we have to stay off the road.
I'm glad you find UPS useful and even though I have nothing to do with it, I will apologize on my company's behalf for the stolen head, though they should be able to recover the costs if they insured it for the proper amount.
