Sending units, are 84-85 the same?

Sending units, are 84-85 the same?
I may need to replace the sending unit in my 1984. Will the sending unit from a 1985 operate in a 1984? I know the pumps are different, just need to know if the sending unit and connector to the LCD instrument panel are the same.

going from memory, '84 is unique (don't have my parts manual in front of me, though), but 85 interchanges as far as '88.

i know the fuel pumps are different but the fuel pumps are interchangeable its acctually a popular thing done in 84s as an 85 pumps a higher voulume of gass compared to the 84 so it flows better. as far as the sending unit being the same i would say it is but not 100% sure it is if u go to the crossfire forum im sure you can find someone who knows for sure if it is or isnt.
