Default 350rwhp

I know, SEARCh, I've used it and read countless threads already. I have a 1991 C4 automatic coupe. I'm about to close on selling my house and looking to do some modifications. I know the exhaust is restrictive, and thankfully we have NO emissions whatsoever here. So I know headers and full exhaust are in order. What is the better intake to use? I've had Lt1 and LT4 f bodies, but this is my first vette. I am not looking for a drag car ( I may go once or twice just to get some #'s) I really want something that can get me around 325-350rwhp and be able to use it on the road. So What are some good, yet affordable heads, and what is a proven cam. I hat a hotcam in my last transam and was happy with that, I know its old and pretty mild.
Again, just looking for a proven h/c/i setup that can get me around my target power. I dont have tons to spend, but $2500 is probably reasonable off the bat.

Thanks
Devon

TFS heads-$1239, 219 cam-$375 or hotcam- $170, MR or if you enjoy wrenching a SR. Either one use should be attainable for $1000. That'll get you to your goal along with exhaust. And you'll need a tune.

this is a stupid question. Is the hotcam for this the same as the one is the LT1-4 car? If so, I have access to one cheap. I dont think I wont to deal with the SR. Also I noticed several different versions of the miniram. Do i need to upgrade the rr's?

Yes on the Full roller rockers and springs. Another approach woulld be to port your stock intake and heads, ZZ9 cam, 1.52 full RR's and a custom tune. Your 1991 has high compression heads that are I believe 10.25:1 already.

Thanks. I really would rather swap a new head and intake on. Mine are higher miles anyways. I'm also open to used setups, so I guess I'll start searching the for sale section and ebay.

The LT4 Hotcam is NOT the same as the stock LT4 cam. The Hotcam is bigger, with more lope at idle.

I don't see how you are going to do all that for $2500. You are looking at closer to $4000.

I think I mis-spoke. I just meant will the same hotcam available for the LT cars fit in the TPI car.

Heads appear to be like 1200 ish online at most places, intakes are like 1000, I can get a cam for under 300. I have buddies who are pretty mechanically inclined, so labor will be a minimum on this. Where is the extra $1500? I wasn't including headers and exhaust in my $2500, that will be seperate expenditure.

You didn't say the exhaust was separate, but in any event you left out; roller rockers, installation supplies, gaskets, shipping, any new sending units or wiring looms etc. You won't be able to do this for $2500. I'm not arguing, just stating my opinion. Go for it, but keep up with ALL you spend and you will be suprised.

I appreciate it. I'm looking forward to it. I'm really surprised who much TQ these L98's put out! Once I get started here in the next few weeks, I'll photograph everything and get some dyno numbers when its done.

Not a problem, I'll probably just devote a whole album online to it. Also starting to look at the Lt intake as a cheaper alternative. Was reading info on vaders website and there was a 3rd gen fbody that had a super ram and then switched to an Lt1 intake. he had an expected loss in Tq, but the car ran almost identical 1/4 mile times. The SR being better, but the Lt1 intake costing about half. I can get an Lt1 intake CHEAP or maybe an LT4 one. Will the LT4 work ok? Can a LT stlyle head be used then? If so, I'll order the LE1 kit from Llyod @ eportwork.com

Thanks guys!
