Has anyone rewired their lt1? I've found bad wires throughout the harness wich has been sending codes for bad sensors. The only replacement harness I found is through Painless Wiring. They recomend an ecm from a 93 camaro( I believe the 92-93 corvette is the same part number) and any other would need to be reprogramed. Is there another source? Is there a difference between the f-body and the vette harness?
I replaced several sections of fuel injector lead because the insulation had shrunk/melted exposing the wires. The quality of the wire used on these engines leaves quite a bit to be desired. The Packard connectors are mostly pretty nice, though.
If you have a lot of bad connectors, I'm sure you can get a better harness from a junk yard or off this board.
For a given year, I think the only difference between an F-body and Y-body LT1 harness is the connector for the second knock sensor.

I think you're saying that the F-body ECM would not need to be reprogrammed. That is not correct. You would need to install the code from a Y-body on it.
Why would they recommend that you replace the ECM with an F-body ECM which is the exact same? What does that have to do with the wiring harness? Is the ECM broken as well?
