I wouldn't mind that . The only reason I fear the failure of an opti 1.) The cost of parts 2.) The time to put it in. Other than those two, it's a very precise ignition system. Probably the best for it's time.
Hmmmm.... if that has a quartz movement... your timing should always be pretty accurate.
Does it have the optional vent tube on it?
That board will need to be epoxy coated just in case the water pump leaks onto it.
135,000 miles, no opti failure here(it is the second one only because as long as the water pump was out, it made sense to change the opti, but it wasn't due).
Mackey went well over 100,000 with his original opti.

Now the early design, yeah I did have a failure there, but it was due mostly because of the car sitting more than it was driven. After all I bought it with 36,000 and I'm the 7th owner. The same thing can happen to a car with a standard ignition. I know because it happened to me already.
Optispark distributors are bloody fantastic. If it fails it no worse than any other distributor system. Its no more likely to fail any more often than any other distributor system.
