I picked up a set of Crane Gold rocker arms that came without rocker arm nuts. Should I buy something like Mr. Gasket Sure-Lock, Crane Cams rocker arm nuts, reuse original, or do something else? Lots of discussion about rocker arms but I don't find anything on nuts. Thanks in advance.
I was afraid that it might be a stupid question, but I don't know the answer and would like to have everthing at hand when I start this job. Your help will be appreciated.
Never a stupid question, I would go on Crane Cam website or Advance Auto and get the nuts that they recommend for those rockers, I'm sure there's others that will work but that way you'll know there the right ones. Good luck
I made the mistake of reusing rocker arm nuts on my boat motor and I had to reset the lash after 10 minutes of idling. All of the nuts came loose and the rocker arms started flopping around. Luckily, I caught it before any damage was done. I used some special nuts from a hardware store that were similar to the originals. The threaded hole actually had a triangular shape that would lock onto the studs.

Most Quality , repeat QUALITY Roller Rockers such as Crane Golds are machined for their own Poly-lock set up. Stock rocker arm nuts will not stay tight and might even bind on the rocker arm pivot shaft.
If you look closely at the rocker arm pivot shaft you will notice a machined area , this goes up when installing the rockers.(It will mount either way)
You can use any type poly-Locks , but with the investment of the Crane Gold series rocker use Crane Nuts, why skimp on the nuts?

If Crane is so great why don't they include lock nuts. Almost every set I looked at included poly locks. Just more of a rip off from crane!

If its good enough for the LT4 GS Corvette , makes more Horsepower and Torque , Reduces oil temps , Has less wear on the Valve train and Guides , Who Cares about price , its a CORVETTE!
So you have to buy Poly-Locks , big deal its worth it ....
