Hi ,my name is john and I have a 96 c4.Does this have a rev limiter on the auto trans because when I floor it it stays at 6200 and does not shift and cuts off unless I let off the gas.
1. yes it does have a rev limiter, but built into the PCM and it cuts spark/fuel or both (cant remember)
if you're in gear and you hammer it and it does this and will not shift, you have transmission related issues...if you're in park or neutral and it does this...this is totally normal...
Welcom to the forum. This is a great place to get all of your questions answered.
My 95A4 will shift by itself with my foot to the floor at WOT. In mine I believe that the factory setting is to shift at an actual 5800 (or near that point) to me it looks like it's shifting at 6000 because at that high a rpm the tack is just not that accurate in representing the actual RPM.
Some one else recently posted that he had to actually had to back off the throttle a little to get the car to shift. I don't think that is normal.
BTW at the very top of this part of the forum is a perminant section of technical facts and tips written by Andy Bogus who is one of the most knowledgable people here in the C4 forum. You will learn a lot by taking the time to read that section.
