Default header getting red hot! help

Ok another update on my troubles, its a carbed motor, first the # 7 cylinder header pipe was red hot, re adjusted the vavles, swapped plug from # 7 to # 1 to see what would happen, # 1 heated up first red hot, then the other 3 began to get red hot also, only on that cylinder bank, the vavles are not bent, i dont know what the hell the problem is, cat converter? carb? they are standard plugs for an 84, heat range to low? i have no clue, iam going to gut out the cat tommorow and get higher heat range plugs i guess, let me know what you think, thanks mike ,, by the way iam runing 10.7:1 compression and 462 fuelie heads, running a qudrajet manifold with a 600 cfm carb to break in the motor :confused:

You're definitely burning fuel in the header tubes on that side.

You got equal fuel flow to both sides of the manifold?

looks like it to me, but maybe the float is stuck on the carb, damn edlbrock,

timing is on perfect, checked it before i put the motor in and when it was in the car before i ran it

How about a clogged or partially clogged cat? Would the backup make the thing retain more heat?
