Thats the noise coming from the right front over bumps. Hard to tell if it is from the shock or one of the many bushings up there. The right front caliper froze last year and generated a lot of heat in that area which may or may not have contributed to the problem.
I can't duplicate the problem by pushing down on the hood. Are there any other tests to determine which componant is failing?
I get a simulat noise when it's cold out. It turned out to be the spring end. It you raise the front up and place with jack stands on the crossmember and spay the spring end with white lithium grease near where the rubber insulator is it should solve the problem.
I have this exact same problem - coming from the passenger front side. Mine also happens only when cold out, and within the first 10 minutes of driving. When I first take the car out - I hear that dreaded noise as I hit dips going out the neighborhood. 30 minutes later, I'll take it down the same road, same speed - doesn't happen.
I replaced the shocks - didn't help.
Gonna try trupps suggestion with the lithium grease.
